The name JAN-KAMAL translates to humane for humans, which portrays the vision and values of the foundation. In Sanskrit, 'Janaha' mean people and 'Kamalam' mean lotus and the foundation envisages serving the people through research-backed project interventions. Through knowledge improvements, skill and capacity building, health awareness and promotion of science and technology the Jankamal foundation aims to improve the livelihoods and quality of life of individuals.
Jankamal foundation was conceptualised and founded by social work professionals who are passionate about philanthropy and holds a handful of expertise in development sector interventions. The foundation stands on the founding principles of Care, Support, Knowledge, Livelihood, Science and Health. The social intervention projects were developed to provide a larger impact on society and on the beneficiaries.
The vision of the foundation connects the dot of social development and creates an intertwined developmental effect on various social issues like social deprivation, economic development, health education, social research and end-to-end social and economic reforms.
The Jankamal foundation is a memorial tribute to our founder Mr Amul Joshi's father the late Janakrai Joshi and his younger brother late Kamal Joshi. The organisation was established as a non-government organization (NGO) on 21st Dec. 2021 and was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and with the Bombay Public Trust Act.1950 from Bhavnagar, Gujarat. The foundation is registered with Income Tax Dept. for receiving funds and donations under the 80(G) of tax exemption and with 12(a) respectively.
